The Voices of Recovery San Mateo County

Interim Center held its Grand Opening on October 30th 2009!

On October 30th, dozens of people from all walks of life and San Mateo County communities came together to celebrate the festive Grand Opening of the Voices of Recovery Interim Center.
Mark Church, President of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors delivered the celebration’s keynote remarks, and expressed the heartfelt support and commitment of the rest of the Board to support wellness and recovery for all San Mateo County residents. The Board’s support of the County’s Behavioral Health and Recovery Services strategic plan reflects the commitment of San Mateo County’s leadership and their vision of wellness as a standard of living for all county residents.

Stephen Kaplan, Director of Alcohol and other Drugs observed that, “Sometimes, things just come together in a way that lets you know they were meant to be’.

Looking around the courtyard at the wide variety of supporters who were in attendance and hearing the cheers as Supervisor Church cut the ceremonial ribbon (assisted by Ray Mills, Stephen Kaplan, Louise Rogers and Kevin Arends), one could easily feel that Mr. Kaplan’s observation had the ring of truth and that we were witnessing something very special.

The space for the Interim Center was generously provided by Youth and Family Enrichment Services, and Director Clarice Blanchard‘s opening remarks expressed the spirits of generosity and partnering that carried Voices of Recovery from a vision to a reality.
